Resources on the Web - General sites
  • Augustine of Hippo
    Research resources on Saint Augustine of Hippo can be found here, including English and Latin translations of his works, and links to pop culture references.  The site was created and is maintained by a professor of classical studies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

  • Catholic Encyclopedia
    This encyclopedia provides readers with authoritative information on Catholic doctrine and thought.  It is an excellent source of introductory information which is presented by New Advent, a private organization.

  • EpistemeLinks.com
    This site is a directory, with thousands of links to philosophy resources, created and maintained by and individual with a B.A. in philosophy.

  • Ethics Updates
    Updates on current ethics literature, both popular and professional, can be found at this site.  It was founded and is edited by a professor of philosophy at the University of San Diego.

  • Existentialism: An Introduction
    Created and maintained avocationally by a college-educated individual, this site provides an overview of basic existentialism, including profiles of Simone de Beauvoir, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Franz Kafka, Soren Kierkegaard, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Jean-Paul Sartre, and others.

  • Greek Philosophy Archive
    The works of Plato, Aristotle, Epictetus, Plotinus, Marcus Aurelius and more are available for download from this site, as well as links to other classics and philosophy sites.  The site was created and is maintained by the Director of Information Technology for the Graduate School at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA.

  • Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy
    This Encyclopedia features articles written by philosophers, and includes a philosophy timeline.  It is edited by a professor of philosophy at the University of Tennessee, Martin, and a professor of philosophy at California State University, Sacramento.

  • Marxists.org Internet Archive
    Biographies, letters, and full-text works of prominent Marxist writers including Marx, Engels, Lenin, Trotsky, Connolly, DeLeon, Draper, and Luxemburg are available at this site in many languages.  The site is presented by a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people around the world about Marxism.

  • Philosophy Server
    This server provides access to "canonical philosophic texts and links to scholarly philosophic organizations," and is part of EServer.org, a nonprofit organization based out of the University of Washington in Seattle.

  • Plato and his Dialogues
    This site contains scholarly information about the ancient Greek philosopher, his works, and their interpretations.  A list of all his works, along with links to those resources, is available.  The site also provides other resources of interest to those studying Plato, such as maps, chronologies, a biography, an index of characters, and more.  It was created and is maintained avocationally by a French scientist.

  • Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy
    An excellent resource that is constantly being updated by an experts in the field of philosophy, this page is presented by the Metaphysics Research Lab at Stanford University in California.

  • William James
    This site contains a chronology of the life of this seminal thinker, writings about him, passages from his writing, quotes, sketches, essays, letters, reviews, etc.  It was created and is maintained by a professor in the Division of Educational Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

    This is a fulltext online philosophical journal.

  • Minerva
    Another fulltext internet journal of philosophy.

  • PSYCHE:
    Research the nature of consciousness is presented in this interdisciplinary refereed electronic journal.  Material includes perspectives from cognitive science, philosophy, psychology, physics, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence.
