Don't forget to go to the many online databases, which provide access to articles from journals, magazines, and newspapers. Some of these articles are provided in full-text, but others are not.     Provides career information, news for CPAs, and AICPA news/products links.

  • AuditNet
    The site contains a directory of Internet sites for auditors, accountants and financial professionals, as well as links to free audit programs, a directory of fraud resources, and sample ethics policies.

  • The New York State Society of CPA's Accounting Terminology Guide
    This site provides a glossary of accounting terminology that will help you more fully to understand financial reports.

  • SmartPros
    Resources for accounting professionals including news; some full-text articles; a research library that provides tax and financial listings from state, federal, and international institutions; and the Certified Public Accountant Link Directory. This site also has accounting job postings, and a browsable list of professional résumés.

    Not only does this site serve as a business search engine, but it also has a directory of companies, products, services, and other business-related information.

  • The Conference Board
    Statistical measures are available here, including Consumer Confidence Index, the Measure of Business Confidence, and Leading Economic Indicators.

  • Corporate Information
    Great site where you can find company profiles for over 15,000 companies, as well as profiles of countries' industries and exchange rates. Each research report analyzes sales, dividends, earnings, profit ratios, research and development, inventory, etc.  This site is provided by Wright Investors' Service.

  • County Business Patterns
    This annual series includes a separate report for each state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and a U.S. summary. Information is available back through 1993.

    This site is the gateway to the Minnesota Legal Web, the Wisconsin Legal Web, and the World Legal Resource Center.

  • Meta-Index for U.S. Legal Research
    Links to most of the searchable legal indexes on the Web are available at this site.  Many of the searchable U.S. legal sources - including searches for case, statutory and regulatory law - are also available.  This service is provided by the Georgia State University College of Law.

  • Minnesota State Court System
    This is a comprehensive law site for the state of Minnesota.

  • Nolo's Legal Encyclopedia
    This site has "plain English" legal information covering wills, estate planning, business, employment, internet law, etc.

  • THOMAS: Legislative Information on the Internet
    Sponsored by the Library of Congress, this site provides access to the full text of bills from U.S. Congresses back through the 101st (with bill summary and status through the 93rd Congress). Search the daily Congressional Record for a term, then read the full text of relevant proceedings and proposed legislation.

    This site allows searching for Chamber of Commerce sites or official sites of cities, states, or provinces around the world.

  • Marketing Virtual Library
    A gateway to other relevant web sites, this site offers links to sites with information on marketing basics, market research, Internet marketing, marketing plans, advertising, selling, and more.

  • NAICS (North American Industry Classification System)
    The U.S., Canada, and Mexico have designated 6-digit codes which classify industries so that statistics can be compared easily across countries.  This site, provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, provides NAICS codes with explanations and an alphabetical list of industries next to their NAICS codes, as well as code searches and conversions between NAICS and SIC.

  • US Census Bureau
    Population and household economic topics are indexed at this subpage of the U.S. Census Bureau's web site.  Links to many other great sites with useful social, demographic, and economic information are also provided.

    This web site provides tables comparing the tax rates and structure for all fifty U.S. states. State income, sales, and excise taxes are included. State and local tax presentations include percentage of personal income, per capita, by source, and as a percentage of total revenues.

    A very complete site of links to everything tax related: federal and state tax legislation, forms, filing and refunds, tax news, links to tax code, manuals and bulletins from the IRS, and more.
